Tiax is looking for an experienced accountant to join their team! This position is a critical member of the accounting team and will provide support to both Camx & Tiax.

This is a full-time position that will report to the Accounting Manager and is located at our Lexington, MA office. This position is a full time and must be available to work onsite.

Job Summary:

The Accountant will prepare financial reports to track the organization's assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
None
Duties/Responsibilities:
Performs general cost accounting and other related duties in the accounting department.
Prepares periodic (monthly) balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss statements.
Maintains the general ledger.
Codes invoices, sets up new accounts, reconciles accounts, and closes the monthly books.
Reconciles bank accounts at least monthly, verifies deposits, and addresses inquiries from banks.
Reconciles customer accounts and manages accounts receivable collections.
Verifies payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts.
Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit.
Files required tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies.
As appropriate, coordinates with software vendor to maintain accounting software system; recommends updates to enhance the accounting software.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Extensive knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting.
Bachelor's degree in business with focus in Accounting
Advanced Degree Preferred, MBA, MS Accounting
3 years of audit experience at top account firm
Excellent critical thinking and research skills; able to take ownership and drive issues to completion.
Effective written and verbal communication skills. Able to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from internal and external customers.
Ability to collaborate effectively with other departments
Strong organizational skills
High level of accuracy and attention to detail
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
Education and Experience & Skills:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline required.
Three to five years of accounting experience required.

Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
