We're seeking an experienced controller to oversee this high-performing team. The ideal candidate will have experience as an accountant in our industry. As a strong communicator and skilled financial analyst, this person will streamline our budgeting, payroll, and financial reporting processes. The controller will also produce thorough financial-status reports for senior managers to help improve our operational efficiency and aid in our continued growth.

Objectives of this role

Provide comprehensive financial updates to senior managers by evaluating, analyzing, and reporting appropriate data points.
Guide financial decisions by applying company policies and procedures to current economic landscape.
Develop, implement, and maintain financial controls and guidelines.
Achieve budgeting goals with proper scheduling, analysis, and corrective actions.
Maximize payroll efficiency through innovative process development.
Help develop and support short- and long-term operational strategies.

Key Job Duties:

Assist Leadership with important financial decisions.
Prepare financial documents such as business reports, financial forecasts and statements to understand the financial state of business.
Supervise employees within the accounting department.
Manage all accounting operations.
Establish and enforce collection procedures,
Monitor financial reports and determine ways to reduce costs.
Keep up-to-date on the financial market to understand how to maximize profits and find new expansion areas.
Understand the financials of a company in order to meet legal requirements and keep the financial state in good standing.
Establish and maintain internal safeguards for revenue receipts, costs, and team and organizational budgets and actual expenditures.
Creating and managing departmental budgets - to include reporting to department directors.
Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances.
Establish financial and operating benchmarks, budgets, program monitoring, and reporting standards on biweekly, monthly, and annual basis.
Implement consistent accounting policies, practices, and procedures across all programs, adhering to national and local legal standards while remaining knowledgeable of proposed legislation.
Oversee and support accounting team with dynamic leadership that creates an environment of trust and productivity.
Approval of monthly expense reports - distribution of Amex statements, approval and review
Performs other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications:

Superior attention to detail.
Strong NetSuite Accounting Software experience, required.
The ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and management about the finances of the business and justify certain financial recommendations.
Organization and project management
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office,
Strong understanding of banking processes and financial data analysis
Working knowledge of national and local tax regulations and compliance reporting
Experience in accounting processes
Exemplary history of financial project management
ConnectWise experience a plus

Job Requirements:

Ability to work extended hours and manage deadlines to accomplish required tasks.
Be open to continually learning new software, stay up to date on banking regulations, accounting laws, taxes (sales, state and federal), & payroll laws and changes

Education and Experience:

Ten or more years of professional accounting experience
Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in business, accounting, or related field
Five or more years of experience as a senior-level accounting or finance manager
Professional certification, such as CPA (certified public accountant) or CA (chartered accountant), preferred.

Best candidate for this position:

A good Controller has an extensive background working in finance roles as an Accountant, Financial Planner, Finance Manager or Accounting Manager. Their experience in these roles allows them to effectively manage financial reporting and accounting operations for a corporation. They need to have excellent verbal and written communication to communicate information between lower-level company employees and company Leadership. Controllers should also have an ethical mindset that motivates them to analyze financial documents and highlight instances of fraud.
