SUMMARY

The Auditor is responsible for conducting audits of moderate complexity, and to actively participate in more complex audits of financial, operational, compliance, technology and administrative systems of the Bank and/or subsidiary organizations. The objective of the program will address key risks and evaluate: the systems of internal control, compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures, governance, and provide recommendations that will further assist management to achieve their objectives and improve the effectiveness of the control environment.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Plan and/or conduct internal audit assignments and prepare/review supporting work papers in a professional and timely manner in accordance with the audit procedure and departmental standards.
Document and execute audit programs, including business process flows, control objectives, key controls, and test plans.
Discuss apparent deficiencies found as a result of audit conducted, with the operating department in an effort to verify information and obtain explanation.
Issue formal written audit reports, which includes: determining risk level of issues identified, support for risk assigned, overall report conclusions, and recommendations to correct unsatisfactory conditions.
Effectively conducts exit meetings with operating management at the conclusion of each audit.
Communicate findings and other audit activities directly to the Chief Internal Auditor and/or the Audit Committee of the Board.
Conduct and report on special investigations (i.e. frauds, etc.).
Communicate with management regarding findings and recommendations, suggested improvements in operations, and opportunities for cost reduction and earnings improvement.
Maintains and develops a high degree of professionalism, integrity, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
Reviews and analyzes the effectiveness of the audit program in the context of changes in the banking environment and initiates any applicable adjustments.
Maintain working knowledge of Bank operational policies and procedures.
Maintains advanced knowledge and awareness of financial industry status and trends.

SECONDARY DUTIES

The position of Auditor performs duties specific to the position and other functions as assigned.

ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITY

The environment for this position is an open office that is mostly clean and comfortable, and includes driving a Bank or personal-owned vehicle approximately 5% of the time which includes exposure to the outside weather elements and moving mechanical parts. It may include some minor annoyances such as noise, odors, drafts, etc. The incumbent is in a non-confined office-type setting in which he or she is free to move about at will.

The incumbent in the course of performing this position spends time writing, typing, speaking, listening, lifting (up to 30 pounds), carrying, seeing (such as close, color and peripheral vision, depth perception and adjusted focus), sitting, pulling, walking, standing, squatting, kneeling and reaching.

The incumbent for this position may operate any or all of the following: telephone, cellular telephone, copy and fax machines, adding machine (calculator), check protector, encoder, typewriter, check and document scanners, postage machine, document folder and inserter, computer terminal, personal computer and related printers.

MENTAL DEMANDS

The incumbent in this position must be able to accommodate to reading documents or instruments, detailed work, problem solving, customer contact, reasoning, math, language, presentations, verbal and written communication, analytical reasoning, stress, multiple concurrent tasks, and constant interruptions.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

These specifications are general guidelines based on the minimum experience normally considered essential to the satisfactory performance of this position. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required to perform the position in a satisfactory manner. BS degree in accounting or the equivalent and 2+ year of related experience preferred. Associate's degree (AA) or equivalent from a two year college or technical school; or five or more years of related experience and/or training; or the equivalent combination of education and experience required. Educational experience, through in-house training sessions, formal school or financial industry related curriculum, should be applicable to the financial industry.
Experience in Compliance and Banking Safety and Soundness
Certification in the audit profession preferred.
Competent knowledge of auditing standards and techniques (emphasis on the Institute of Internal Auditors Standards of Professional Practice/SPP), and internal control systems.

Thorough knowledge of accounting principles, bank policies, procedures, and practices in all areas of the Bank, with strong knowledge and understanding of applicable laws and regulations.
Excellent skills in computer terminal and personal computer operation; mainframe computer system; and word processing and spreadsheet software programs.
Intermediate typing skills to meet production needs of the position.
Exceptional oral, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions and instruct others, interpret documents, understand procedures, write reports and correspondence, speak clearly to customers and employees.
Ability to deal with complex problems involving multiple facets and variables in non-standardized situations.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Ability to work with minimal supervision while performing duties.
Current driver's license and a vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage if required to drive in the course of performing assigned duties and responsibilities.

The incumbent must be able to perform this position safely, without endangering the health or safety to himself or herself or others.
