We are the Kaitiaki / Guardians of New Zealand Superannuation. We are proud of our Te Whāinga / Our purpose: Sustainable investment delivering strong returns for all New Zealanders. We invest government contributions to the NZ Super Fund, a global investment fund helping to ensure the country can pay for the growing cost of universal superannuation (New Zealand Superannuation) in the future. We also oversee the Elevate Fund, which invests in small, fast-growing New Zealand companies.

At the Guardians there's an energy, passion and a shared commitment to excellence: in 2022 the NZ Super Fund was named the world's best-performing sovereign wealth fund. The work is complex, innovative and intellectually stimulating. Sustainable finance, including a commitment to being net zero by 2050, is core to our Mātāpono / way of working.

About the position

The purpose of the Internal Audit business unit is to provide independent and objective assurance designed to add value to the Guardians of New Zealand Superannuation ("the Guardians") by assisting the Guardians to achieve its business objectives through a systematic and disciplined approach to evaluating and improving the effectiveness of governance, risk management and internal control.

The Internal Audit business unit works closely with the Board and the Board's Audit Committee, as well as with the Leadership Team, and undertakes reviews across all areas of the organisation. The business unit holds relationships with the external auditors, the other 'big four' accounting firms, and other potential co-source partners.

You will support the achievement of business unit and wider Guardians' objectives, focusing on the integrity, quality and effectiveness of the organisation's risk management and control systems. You will do this by:

  • Contribute to determining and managing engagement scope.
  • Design and perform relevant audit and testing plans to deliver audit engagements.
  • Provide consultative opinions on various projects and initiatives.
  • Ensure timely reporting on all significant findings and issues.
  • Monitor completion of improvement actions by the organisation.
  • Support the development and execution of data analytics capabilities to support internal audit activity.
  • Assist in the delivery of enhancements to the Guardians' Risk Management Framework.

About you
  • Experienced within an Audit function, either within a Big 4 or Corporate environment, with strong data analytics capability.
  • Can demonstrate the ability to engage and influence with key stakeholders, up to executive level.
  • Demonstrate the use of Data Analytics, and experience in Power BI to enable decision making support
  • Dealing with ambiguity, and providing Internal Audit advisory services as a value add to the business.

What we offer
  • A dynamic, exciting place to work with a team united by our common purpose of sustainable investment delivering strong returns for all New Zealanders.
  • Competitive remuneration package including base salary, discretionary bonus programme, and up to 8% KiwiSaver matching.
  • World class professional development, career pathways and job rotation opportunities.
  • Comprehensive leave and benefits programme including strong parental leave package and insurance cover.
  • Flexible and accessible work environment that reflects our commitment to equity and an inclusive team.
