An overseas relocation has created a great opportunity for an experienced leader, preferably based in our Christchurch or Dunedin offices, to manage a 130-strong team of three waters infrastructure professionals. This highly talented group deliver a diverse range of services to clients across the South Island, New Zealand and the world with offices in Nelson, Blenheim, Greymouth, Christchurch, Queenstown, Alexandra and Dunedin.

To be successful in this role you'll have excellent management experience and a good understanding of the market. Strong financial acumen is a given, as is a successful track record in leading others, fostering client relationships, winning revenue and delivering projects. You'll hold a professional qualification in engineering with 15 years' experience gained in the water/wastewater or local government sector. Local knowledge and experience in the South Island market would be an advantage.

About the role - you will:
  • Develop and implement business strategy and revenue growth plans for the business to achieve organisational goals and agreed outcomes
  • Build and maintain positive long-term relationships with existing and new clients
  • Foster strategic partnerships to support business development and grow the water business
  • Collaborate internally to leverage synergies and capabilities across business disciplines to deliver integrated client solutions
  • Identify capability gaps within your team, and facilitate their development and any necessary recruitment
  • Actively participate in internal and external knowledge communities on both a local and global scale
  • Join the leadership of the New Zealand national water business by working closely with other New Zealand and Asia Pacific leaders to deliver our regional strategy
  • Provide oversight and guidance to a group of team leaders and principal engineers and professionals
  • Lead growth of services into a variety of industry clients, through active portfolio management and recruitment

About you:
  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering or related discipline coupled with experience in the market
  • Ability to lead a diverse range of professionals
  • Demonstrate excellent communications skills
  • Be collaborative by default
  • Have a forward looking approach
