Working collaboratively with global, regional, and local teams, provide highly specialized services in one or more of the following functions: financial analysis and reporting; financial management; accounting; auditing; grants administration; management controls and reporting; or similar financial activities for the New Zealand programme. The position administers and maintains finance/accounting activities in accordance with TNC policies and procedures and best practices in financial accounting /organizational management. Provide financial guidance and support to a wide range of stakeholders from different backgrounds and experience. This is a permanent full-time position, reporting to the Director of Finance and Operations (DFO).


We are looking for you to bring vital skills to support the New Zealand programme by performing these essential functions:
  • Financial modelling for budgeting and forecasting for single and multi-year periods.
  • Provide financial information for reporting to governance, management, and donors.
  • Monitoring controls and processes to ensure compliance with TNC's policies and procedures and New Zealand local regulations.
  • Communicating complex financial information to non-finance departmental staff members.
  • Working closely with the DFO, Leadership Team, Project Managers, the Related Entities team (RECE), and TNC's wider networks across the globe.
  • Ability to provide cover for the DFO when/if required.
  • Demonstrate sensitivity in handling confidential information.
  • This is a hands-on job, currently with no direct reports, but may supervise staff in the future.

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration or related field and 3 years' related experience or equivalent combination.
  • Experience with relational databases and creating/managing moderate to complex spreadsheets, workbooks, and financial modelling.
  • Experience manipulating, analysing, and interpreting data. Advance expertise in Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with Power BI an advantage.
  • Experience using accounting and financial reporting systems and preparing customized reports.
  • Experience with New Zealand statutory compliance and financial reporting standards.
  • Technical experience with GAAP accounting principles, practices, and regulations.
  • Admin and/or operations functions experience including project management support.
