Job Description

About this opportunity

As a Shared Services Accountant you will provide process and transactional accounting support to the wider Pact Group. You play an integral role in ensuring compliance with all Pact group standard processes and policies.

As a member of the local Hamilton based team, you will be a team player, have a willingness to support others where needed and have a can-do attitude ensuring we all achieve together what is required for the group.

Your key responsibilities will be to:
  • Complete Balance Sheet reconciliations, including investigation and follow through to resolution any items in the Balance Sheet
  • Complete Rise And Fall calculations for assigned Pact Division/s where applicable
  • Complete Month end tasks for various sites including but not limited to accruals, month end calculations and SAP month end settlement.
  • Support half year and annual audit process as required
  • Review of Manufacturing Variances for assigned Pact division/s on a monthly basis
  • Review daily exception reports and ensure they are cleared, following up where required
  • Project work as required by the Accounting Manager eg intercompany and acquisition accounting projects
  • Other tasks as requested by the GM Shared Services and Accounting Manager.

About you

Knowledge and Experience
  • Experience with manufacturing standard costing practices such as cost allocation methods and cost sensitivity analysis in an SAP environment
  • Understand the implications business and accounting decisions have on one another
  • Understands P&L, accounting systems and financial metrics
  • Understanding of Capital accounting rules and processes

Key skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with people at all levels in technical or non-technical language, which can be easily understood.
  • Ability to apply effective questioning, communication and influencing skills to understand business issues, develop targeted analysis and insights, and translate insights into priority findings
  • Influencing - can bring stakeholders through recommendations by presenting well-reasoned, fact-based propositions and guides business decisions
  • Ability to work to challenging deadlines in demanding fast paced environment
  • Proactive in identifying and solving complex problems / issues
  • Exhibits a drive for continuous professional development in self and others
  • Ability to effectively understand and interpret data
  • Intermediate skills in Excel

Accreditation / Qualification Requirements
  • Tertiary qualifications essential in Finance, accounting, commerce/business
  • CPA/CA qualification preferred (or working towards this)
