A full-time qualified and experienced Internal Management Accountant is required to manage the Finance Department and it's team members at a fast and dynamic growing UK based accountancy practice.

If you are a highly motivated individual with a real interest in a long-term position in a UK accountancy practice, then this role may be the ideal opportunity for you. Basic training and guidance will be provided to match the required practices and culture of the accountancy practice.

The Internal Management Accountant aims to assist the Head of Finance to provide timely, accurate information to the members of our management team. The role will consist of:

Identifying, investigating, and influencing problem areas to improve the results of the practice
Considering new processes to follow to allow more accurate information to be given to our management team in a more time efficient way
Completing and reporting on the monthly management accounts for various group members
Completing cash flow analysis
Assisting with the year-end financial accounts
Assisting with the partner drawings and wages for the practice
Completing month end reconciliations
Overseeing overheads and keeping costs to a minimum

Credit Control Responsibility

Tracking and managing accounts receivable to ensure timely payment from clients.
Following up with clients who have overdue payments and implementing collection strategies to recover outstanding debts.
Working with clients to negotiate payment terms that are mutually beneficial and help facilitate timely payments.
Ensuring that accounts are accurately reconciled, and discrepancies are resolved promptly.
Analyzing credit data and financial statements to identify potential risks and opportunities for improvement in credit management.
Implementing strategies to minimize bad debt by identifying and addressing potential credit risks early on.
Optimizing cash flow by effectively managing accounts receivable and ensuring timely payment from clients.

All candidates must:

Have four or more years of experience within the finance department or similar.
Good strong knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping procedures.
Familiarity with accounting software and strong excel skills.
Strong mathematical skills.
Ability to follow and improve a documented systemised process.
Dynamic problem-solving skills.
Incredible attention to detail to identify errors and find solutions.
Have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Great time management and organisational skills.
Ability to work independently and in a team.
Ability to work across a range of responsibilities.
Be self-motivated.
Be able to work effectively to deadlines.
Have initiative, be flexible and have the ability to handle change.
Grade 12 matric qualification, certification, diploma and/or degree in Financial Accounting.

The ideal candidate must have:

Degree in Financial Accounting or similar.
4-5 years Management Accounts experience.
Office Management skills and ability to oversee a finance team.
Professional and empathetic people skills.

The role is based in Glen Ashley, Durban North

Hours: Monday - Friday (9h30 - 18h00) - 37.5 hours per week.

Salary: R40,000 - 45,000 per month dependent upon experience
