Responsible for compiling and analyzing financial information and related business analytics and metrics to provide management with decision making tools. Responsible for the preparation and/or review of external cost accounting reports, and other internal and external financial reports, in accordance with established general accounting policies and

procedures. Independently performs moderately complex to extremely complex analysis of financial data. This position interacts with all levels of administration and operations in a collaborative team environment. Performs highly complex accounting activities, analyzes financial data and prepares accounting reports. Ensures compliance with Bancroft

policies and procedures as well as state and federal fiscal management laws and regulations. Continuously identifies and facilitates process improvements.

  • Manages the daily operations of the Department of Education accounting for Bancroft's network of schools.
  • Oversees recording and reporting processes including the condition of the organization's books and records,
  • compliance with internal controls, management of internal and external auditing processes and the formulation
  • of financial statements and reports for Bancroft's school network.
  • Independently reviews, monitors and analyzes expense data and accounts:
  • o Reviews and analyzes monthly expense accounts to ensure that expenses are properly recorded in the general ledger. Prepares journal entries with supporting documentation to appropriately adjust accounts. Generates monthly general ledger expense reports detailing expenses incurred by each program. Performs analysis of actual to budgeted/forecasted results and assists the Director of Education, Director of Accounting and Corporate Controller in investigating and explaining significant variances.
  • Serves as financial liaison for the Education service line by facilitating the exchange of financial information and communication between Accounting and Education. This includes, but is not limited to, revenue analysis, expense variance analysis, forecasting, budgeting and general support.
  • Reports on the financial condition of the organization's schools by reviewing financial statements and providinganalytics and information for management discussion and analysis. Disseminates external financial reports to Bancroft's executive team in accordance with established timeframes and following the approval of the CFO.
  • Assists with the annual budget process for Bancroft schools, in compliance with local, state and federal budgetary reporting requirements and specifically within Department of Education requirements.
  • Participates in the annual audit process specific to Department of Education financial statements and reporting and ensures that data and information requests are handled in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Provides leadership and guidance to staff members within direct areas of responsibility. Effectively manages ongoing job performance of direct reports through coaching, performance evaluations, and disciplinary and/or corrective action when appropriate.
  • Performs other duties and special assignments, as required. Remains flexible and adaptable in work schedules and work assignments, based on organizational and departmental needs.
  • Upon request, willingly cooperates with senior management, or any federal, state or local agency or licensing authority, in connection with ongoing inspections and investigations.
  • Remains current with required training certifications, meets state-regulated licensing and regulatory accreditations, and adheres to mandatory requirements.

  • Maintains effective verbal and written communications with colleagues, those served, and their family members and/or guardians when applicable.

Education & Experience:

BS in Accounting required with a minimum of seven years of experience in the accounting field, two of which are in internal auditing or with a public accounting firm. Minimum of five years of supervisory/management experience required. CPA preferred.
