About the role

You'll play a crucial role in building and managing strategic funding relationships and actively developing external funding and investment opportunities. This role also contributes to high level decision making across all functions and areas of Council through the provision of specialist commercial and funding advice and support with a view to delivering the optimum outcome for Council.

In this role your focus will be to:
  • Develop and maintain a clear and aligned external funding strategy
  • Investigate and develop strategic funding and investment opportunities such as public private partnerships, use of special purpose vehicles, and/or alternative ownership structures where appropriate.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with strategic partners, sponsors, funders and stakeholders, proactively engaging with them and working to positively influence funding decisions made by them.

About you

We are looking for a dynamic individual with exceptional interpersonal skills and a knack for building and nurturing relationships. You'll be a proactive communicator with a flair for relationship management and strategic thinking.

In addition, you will have:
  • A bachelor's degree in business or marketing, or equivalent knowledge.
  • Proven experience and success in identifying and securing funding opportunities, and nurturing and developing customer or stakeholder relationships.
  • Well established professional networks with public and private funders and sponsors within the New Zealand business and stakeholder community.
  • Expert knowledge of relevant national and regional funding sources and requirements.
  • Experience in commercial contracts and analysis, negotiations and other business-related activities.
