About Us

Waste Management Technical Services (TS) is a specialist division of highly qualified staff with purpose-built processing facilities processing medical, hazardous, and liquid wastes safely in full compliance.

About the Role

This role is based in East Tamaki supporting the divisional senior leadership management team, as an important member of our commercial finance team and help us with shaping our systems for the division.

This role will require some travel, so exposure to local and regional business partnering is on offer. You will gain experience rolling out system modules and commercial projects.

Key responsibilities:
  • Evaluate, simplify, and enhance business systems and applications.
  • Roll out various modules of operating system.
  • Manage training in various systems for the division.
  • Partner with primary operating unit teams to prepare operating unit forecasts and budgets in alignment with divisional guidelines and timetables, incorporating appropriate challenge and analysis.
  • Work closely as an integrated part of the management team to provide guidance and analysis on strategic growth opportunities and operational efficiencies.
  • Analyse and review cost analysis covering allocation, cost benefit, volume, profit, customer profitability and life cycle analysis.
  • Prepare customer, segment, service price modelling as required.
  • Drive formal business performance reviews.

To be successful in this role you must have:
  • A minimum 3+ years' experience in systems accountant or commercial accountant role
  • CAANZ/CPA membership. E.g. BBA or BCom graduate
  • Advanced skills in MS Excel, intermediate skills in other MS Office applications.
  • Ability to collect and analyse data from multiple sources and systems.
  • Ability to work both collaboratively in the operational and finance team environments, and autonomously.
  • Keen interest in learning new systems, processes, various business streams and operational accounting.
  • Excellent time management.
  • Ability to communicate complex financial information in a concise, nontechnical manner.
  • Strong commercial awareness and business acumen.
  • Articulate with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Curious and scientifically minded.

With a track record of engaging with operational managers, gaining an understanding of their needs, and translating them into understandable financial, business and pricing models, you will help to determine our direction of travel. We are looking for you to bring your perspective, adding value by challenging the status quo with information and data that facilitates our quest for continuous improvement.

What we offer:
  • Competitive Salary of $120,000
  • 40 hours per week
