Your new role
As the Head of Finance and Corporate Services, you will be responsible for managing the financial services functions for this public sector organisation.
Your expertise will be crucial in informing our financial strategy, ensuring compliance, and optimising resource allocation. In addition, you will lead, manage, and develop small teams of professional staff supporting Data Protection, HR, Facilities, IT, and Procurement.
With the ability to work to tight deadlines you will provide help and advice to colleagues producing varying financial information required to support project work, such as bids for external funding and green finance. An integral part of this wide-ranging role is understanding our budget process, providing support and advice to our Senior Management Team and Members, including presenting data at various workshops. No one day will ever be the same!
What you\'ll need to succeed

  • Professional qualified accountant - CCAB or equivalent (e.g. CIMA, CIPFA, ACCA and ICAEW)
  • Experience of running, managing and leading a successful finance function at a senior level
  • Comprehensive and up to date technical awareness of accounting standards, budget setting, monitoring and risk management
  • Understanding of the key areas of finance and management accounting processes ideally in the Public and Private / Third sector
  • Experience of managing and developing professional staff across a wide range of disciplines
  • Experience of working with a Board of Directors and Trustees
  • Experience of overseeing and measuring organisational financial performance
  • Ability to examine business cases to ensure they can be developed into cost effective plans that are in line with the purposes and duty of the organisation
