Your Role

To help us write the next chapter of the Baltimore Equitable Insurance story by managing the record keeping for the Company's perpetual homeowners' insurance business and creating accurate, timely and insightful financial reports. Working with the Director of Finance and Accounting, you will be a key member of the accounting team owning several critical functions, developing processes and procedures, and implementing new financial systems.


Primarily responsible for billing operations, accounts payable and general ledger maintenance
Generate insurance reports, management/operations reports and ad-hoc financial reports
Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations
Manage investment accounting ensuring transactions are recorded and activity is reconciled
Produce accounting reports and present results
Process and administer semi-monthly payroll cycle via third-party software
Assist in the preparation of all monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements
Improve processes, implement automation, design procedures and enhance internal controls


We are looking for a Senior Accountant to provide accounting and operational support for the company and drive innovation within accounting function. You will have the opportunity to learn quickly, take ownership and help build an exceptional accounting team.

BS in Accounting or Finance
2-5 years of relevant experience
Ability to learn and apply technical accounting principles in the insurance industry
Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy
Experience working with payroll software(s) a plus
Organized and comfortable working independently with multiple priorities
Willingness to take on challenges, think analytical and solve problems
Proficient with Microsoft office with an emphasis on Excel, Outlook and Teams
Strong communication skills to interact with policyholders, Board Members and regulatory agencies
CPA, actively pursuing certification or similar credential preferred, not required
Investment accounting, insurance company or internal control experience beneficial, not required

The salary range for this position is $73k to $80k, based on experience. Salary may be higher if you have your CPA.
