Watauga County is accepting applications for the position of Assistant Finance Director.
Duties include performing complex professional and difficult administrative work planning, organizing, managing and participating in the financial activities of the County.
The position requires an extensive knowledge of general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, budgeting, payroll and purchasing; and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, government officials and the general public. Coordinates the preparation and development of the County budget process, advises other departments on budget preparation, reviews submitted budget requests for completeness, inputs and submits budget requests to Finance Director. Work is performed in accordance with established County finance procedures, local ordinances, North Carolina General Statutes governing the responsibilities of local government fiscal operations, generally accepted accounting principles and GASB. Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in accounting/business administration, or extensive experience in government finance administration or accounting with considerable supervisory experience is required.

Hiring range $76,532 - $95,665, Depending on Qualifications.
