The Controller will report to and be responsible for overlooking and supervising several accounting related departments, handle all the accounting affairs of the company, report and work hand in hand with senior management. This individual will lead, manage and deal with variety of strategic, operating and financial initiatives of the company.

Essential duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Oversee of the day-to-day accounting operation/functions of the Accounting/Finance team, including but not limited to accounts receivable, accounts payable and payroll, general ledger and collection;
  • Planning, assigning and directing work, and appraising performance of the Accounting/Finance group;
  • Maintain an effective and efficient accounting system, including the review of current controls and make recommendations for improvements and efficiencies;
  • Maintain a system of internal controls and accounting that will ensure accurate reporting and recordkeeping;
  • Financial reporting and analysis (e.g., month-end close, monthly financial statements, tax preparation, etc.);
  • Cash & Asset Management responsibilities as assigned (manage and optimize cash flow);
  • Managing the annual audit process;
  • Addressing concerns and solving problems (e.g., Accounting process and procedures; Employee Relations, Organizational Development, Training, etc.);
  • Participates in Ad hoc projects and other system implementations;
  • Work with the Human Resources Department to fill up determined accounting staffing needs;
  • Make presentations to Senior Management/Members of the Board;
  • Coordinate with 3rd party management company regarding financial reporting requirements, quarterly and semi-annual capital distribution, monthly capital contribution, legal billing and other intercompany reimbursements;
  • Perform other duties as assigned and needed. The duties and responsibilities listed above are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all-inclusive.


This individual must have the following skills and/or qualifications:
  • Proven years of experience; minimum of ten (10) years of proven leadership experience
  • Adept at business related software: Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint
  • Knowledge in Appfolio and/or Yardi s a MUST and experience in system administration preferred
  • Project Management skills desirable
  • Background in residential/multi-family property management industry
  • Outstanding ability to develop strong and positive employer-employee relationships
  • Ability to run the business and relate to everyone from top to bottom and wide range of personalities and diverse cultures
  • Ability to work collaboratively in teams and across functions
  • Ability to make critical decisions while following company policies and procedures
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred
