Tax Accountant

Description: looking for someone to be an integral part of our team long-term, and is committed to working directly with individuals and small and medium sized businesses. We are a family-employee friendly office that supports a work-life balance including shorter summer work weeks and extended holiday weekends (4-day weekend for Memorial Day & Labor Day, and other holidays when possible). We are conveniently located in the center of Severna Park next to the B&A Bike Trail, and are proud of our engagement in the local community.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Prepare tax provisions schedules, returns, payments, reports and maintain a company's tax database
  • Find tax solutions to complicated tax issues or errors from incorrect tax filings
  • Identify legal tax savings and recommend ways to improve profits
  • Make sure that clients comply with federal, state and local tax regulations
  • Advise management about the impact of tax liabilities and corporate strategies or new tax laws
  • Coordinate outsourced tax preparation work
  • Accurately prepare quarterly and annual tax reports
  • Keep up-to-date with tax changes and industry trends by participating in educational opportunities, participating in professional organizations, keeping up with professional networks and reading professional publications


Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Business required
  • 2 - 5 years in accounting or related field
  • CPA or EA preferred
  • Experience with QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with Lacerte tax software helpful
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strict attention to detail, highly organized and efficient
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and with deadlines
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills
  • Willingness to establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Show initiative and demonstrate leadership qualities
  • Must be dependable, punctual, and have the ability to use discretion with sensitive and confidential materials
