Senior Finance Business Partner


We are looking for a Senior Business Partnering to join support team on HS2 project. You will be responsible for supporting the Area/BU team/ Project Directors to ensure the accurate flows of information and data discipline / control environment for the Project/ JV. The role reports directly to the HOF and has a team of 3 people.
  • Accountabilities
  • Project Accounting - Integrity of costs and accuracy & transaction processing
  • Financial control, Governance, segregation of duties & process flows
  • Maintenance of sound financial controls, in line with JV guidelines, ensuring that all applicable requirements can be met at all times
  • Financial reporting and forecasting of cost and cash plus associated Risks
  • Production of the Application for payment
  • Calculation of staff charge rates
  • Monitoring and reducing under and over recovery of staff costs
  • Education of non-financial people on financial process and policy and what it means to them(Insurance renewals and single point of contact for the area)
  • Control of stock issued to works from stores
  • Monitoring and Reporting
  • Production of monthly Project Finance Report and any ad-hoc reporting requirements including rolling forecasts, cash-flows, other reporting requirements for the STRABAG/JV Partners
  • Work with Area Senior Project Accountant to ensure robust site reporting
  • Finance KPIs
  • Tracking fee based/disallowed costs
  • Understand the commercial contracts in use in order to challenge the commercial position ensuring reporting represents a fair and accurate reflection on contract performance
  • Work closely with the Senior Management to improve project reporting and reduce commercial risk.
  • Procurement.
  • Asset Management (i.e. IT).

  • Ensure cash forecasts are robustly prepared and accurately reported.
  • Cashflow requirements for Project/ JV Partners
  • Other
  • Lead cost verification requirements
  • Assist project teams with client audits, helping minimise disallowed costs and improve project cash flow.
  • Assist with the setup of the projects processes and control environment.

  • Solid PQE Accountant with a recognised professional body (ACCA, ICAEW, or CIMA)
  • Experience in a project-based finance team within the construction, infrastructure, or similar industry
  • Strong Excel, IT & Communication Skills
  • Good attention to detail
  • Takes ownership of output
  • Ability to work alone and as part of a team
  • Self-confident
  • Previous experience ideally in a similar role within the construction industry
  • Knowledge of AS4U accounting system
