This role, which sits within the wider Group FP&A team, is the finance lead for the corporate costs and transformation programmes, you'll be business partnering and providing insight to 3 Executive Committee (“ExCo”) members (Director of HR, General Counsel and Director of Corporate Affairs) and their teams. A broad role with an exciting remit, you'll receive oversight of the overall corporate strategy and transformation happening across the support office, including supporting organisational design and Plan A (sustainability) teams understanding and running our M&S-wide carbon planning processes. You'll develop a broad network across finance and the wider business with lots of opportunity for cross-functional working. Provide insight and analysis on support office staffing (a key area of focus for the business), engaging with the business unit (“BU”) finance teams and HR to accurately report and comment on the movements and risks or opportunities, as well as supporting HR on future organisational design strategy. Being a proactive business partner to support and challenge on any business cases for investment in the corporate areas. Ensuring the financials are robust and that the benefits are achievable and tracked. Lead the post implementation review process to update the business on how the business case is tracking against its targets. Coaching and support of five heads in the Business Service Centre (“BSC”) who dotted line report into the role, building a strong relationship with them based on regular feedback and development. Leading core planning processes for your areas (3 Year Plan and Budget), working cross-functionally with numerous business partners to generate challenging but achievable plans, based on clear assumptions, that are in line with the area’s strategy. This will involve leading discussions with the senior leaders and CFO to ensure they have a clear understanding of the plan to achieve these. Who you are Your skills and experience will include: Qualified accountant Commercial awareness to add challenge and insight to the business, with the confidence to present to and form relationships with senior stakeholders Proactive self-starter with collaborative approach and a natural style that builds strong network with colleagues Willingness to challenge the status quo, and a drive for continuous improvement: implementing or overseeing changes to processes which improve efficiency and outputs.
