Location: Liverpool Contract Type: 12 month contract Closing Date: 03/11/2023 The Role The Operational tax team is responsible for ensuring that RIM and RIMI meet their US Qualified Intermediary (QI) and AEOI (both FATCA and CRS) obligations and additionally for ensuring that RIM meets its obligations as an SEC registered Investment Advisor. For our QI obligations, this involves ensuring that we hold correct documentation for any clients who wish to invest in US securities and for all clients who are US Persons (for example W-8 or W-9 forms). The team produces 1099 reports relating to dividend, interest, and sales proceeds income for our US clients annually which are also submitted to the IRS and reports US income of non-US clients to the IRS annually on a pooled basis. This permits RIM and RIMI to offer the majority of clients lower rates of withholding tax on their US dividends and interest. For our AEOI obligations, the team ensures that we hold validation information on the tax residencies of all clients and additionally for ensuring that all entity clients have provided valid AEOI self-certification information. The team submits FATCA reporting (US clients) and CRS reporting (client's resident in neither the US nor the UK) annually to both HMRC and Revenue Jersey. To meet RIM’s SEC obligations, the team submit 13F reports quarterly and ADV reports both annually and after any material changes to the business. The team also ensures that all relevant information is sent annually to all SEC clients. The team is also responsible for withholding tax (WHT) reclaim service which is aiming to offer RIM’s largest charity clients a reduction in the WHT paid on foreign dividends in partnership with our global custodian, BNY Mellon. There are currently 9 jurisdictions in scope. The team provides the charity clients with the relevant documentation and once completed, instructs BNY Mellon of the details of the reclaims to be made. Outcomes of the Role
Assist in the production of appropriate management information, including information relating to key performance indicators, key risk indicators aligned to your responsibilities. Ensure these are produced on time and are appropriate for relevant committee audiences thereafter. Ensure that you are actively participating in the 4+1 habits from Lean methodology. Assist with the planning/ forecasting for the team and that this information is reviewed on a regular basis. Monitor the team’s effectiveness/ failure against the agreed SLA/ performance, whilst continuously looking to improve the service standard. Act as an escalation point for your peers/ colleagues, highlighting any issues/ concerns you have to your manger along with potential solutions. Support the continuous improvement across the team leading to enhancements in efficiency and clients and customer experience (CX/UX). Be responsible for performing User Acceptance Testing (UAT) of new and existing IT systems which you operate as well as reviewing and signing off UAT performed by your colleagues Ensure you are conducting control requirements on a consistent and timely basis. Oversee all CASS related processes, systems, and controls within your area, in support of the SMF18, issues are escalated and resolved as and when necessary. A minimum of 5 GCSE’s (grade A-C/ 5-9) including Maths & English Experience of working as part of a team Desirable: • 2 years industry knowledge and an interest in the wealth management sector Skills and knowledge
