The Company Able Bridge Recruitment are thrilled to be working with a client who we have successfully placed multiple candidates with in the last few months. Being based in the heart of Edinburgh city centre, the organisation, loosely speaking, sits within the charitable sector and are looking to hire an assistant accountant on a 6 month maternity contact.

Reporting into the head of management accounts, the role holder will be based in the office for at least 2 days per week, however in the first few weeks you will be expected to be office based 5 days per week.

The Responsibilities
The purpose of this role is to provide support to the finance team in maintaining the running of a smooth and efficient department. You will be expected to maintain the purchase ledger, bank accounts as well as assisting with the production of monthly management accountants.

On a day-to-day basis you can expect to be responsible for the following;
Reconciliation of bank accounts.
Completion of month end journal entries.
Matching, batching and coding of supplier invoices and preparing them for payment runs.
Assist with the production of month end accounts and reconcile AP, AR and GL accounts.
Build strong relationships with key members of the finance team and assist wherever is needed.
Ensure that invoices and general ledger accounts are correctly maintained within the organisations financial system.

The Requirements
We are looking for an individual to commence this contact ASAP, as such candidates will need to be available at a week`s notice or less. We are seeking an individual who has previously worked within a similar role (in the UK) for a minimum of 3 years. It would be highly beneficial if candidates are part qualified, however this is not essential Applicants will need to demonstrate a high level of attention to detail, excellent communication skills and be proactive in their approach.

COVID19 statement Our client will be expecting the successful applicant to be based in the office on a blended working model, the model that we are working with is 40% in the office and 60% working at home, however this may change and you may be expected to work more often in the office. If, however, applicants wish to work longer in the office the option is available to them.
