What you'll be doing:

As you near the end of your studies at school or college, we know that you have a number of options when thinking about your next step.

To help you make the decision as to whether an apprenticeship might be an option to consider, we have created a 4-week summer internship for those in their penultimate year of study at school or college.

As a summer intern you will gain valuable work experience, have the opportunity to network across our business and experience our inclusive and collaborative culture all while completing a daily role and working on ad-hoc projects during your time with us.

If successful, you will be considered for a role on our Apprenticeship programme once you complete your studies commencing September 2025.

Our Summer Internship runs over a 4-week period commencing early July 2024. To apply, you must be in your penultimate year of study at school or college.

The role of the Business, Development and Advice division is to support our financial advisers in providing market leading financial advice, and products to our clients to provide great client outcomes.

During your short time with us, you will be fully supported, to enable you to get the most out of your Internship and help you shape your future career. You will undertake a variety of administrative tasks, as well as participating in wider initiatives to support your knowledge and development. You will have the chance to meet a variety of people across the business to gain an understanding of the Business Development & Advice division and St. James's Place. You will also gain exposure to Technical Connection, a market leading brand in applied tax, technical and financial planning know-how.

As an intern, you will be placed in one of the teams which form part of the Business, Development and Advice division, this may include:
  • Advice Policy - a project-based team that assists Partners with their clients through our Advice Framework.
  • Client Liaison- A team which handles all complaints regarding initial and ongoing advice provided by the Partnership.
  • Technical Connection Consultancy- provides Partners with a specialist knowledge service on matters to do with Tax, Trust and Protection, Pensions Technical and Advice Guidance, as well as the TechLink platform.
  • Business Assurance- The team is responsible for checking advice that Partners give clients.
  • Strategy and Change- Review existing processes and systems and identify improvements through Automation.
  • Business Improvement- Run events and showcase how SJP can assist with vulnerable clients.

You will be provided with:
  • An overview of the Financial Services industry and St. James's Place
  • Opportunities to develop your telephony, written communication and computer skills across the range of Microsoft 365 applications to include Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint

You will gain experience in:
  • Presentation preparation and delivery
  • Taking responsibility for a process or task
  • How to manage your diary and commitments
  • Building and maintaining relationships with colleagues and managers

Who we're looking for:

We are looking for inquisitive individuals, who have a strong desire to learn and gain experience in a busy, varied division.

Other skills required to be successful:
  • Confidence to ask questions
  • Comfortable with working in an office environment and working remotely as and when required.
  • Basic understanding of Microsoft tools

As an Intern, there is the expectation to spend more of the working week in our Cirencester office than working from home. This allows you to benefit from the office environment and make the most out of your short time with us.

You should be in your penultimate year of Sixth Form/College, on track to receive 2 A-levels or equivalent. You should hold a minimum of Level 4 in GCSE English and Maths.

You should have an interest in joining our 2025 Apprenticeship programme pending a successful internship with us.
