Are you someone who enjoys giving back to its communities and has experience of managing and specialising in charity and not for profits clients? Then we may have an opportunity just for you.

We are looking for a qualified accountant whose primary role is to manage a team of auditors and to assist in leading audits from planning to completion for a range of our predominately Not For Profit clients across Kent and Sussex. In addition, there is the option to be involved in corporate client audits.

You will have exposure to reviewing financial statements, you will be responsible for leading and ensuring the training of assistants takes place and responsible for reviewing all work produced by the team.

As an Audit Manager in Kent, your office base can be either Chatham or Canterbury - plus we offer hybrid working which involves working 3 days in the office, and 2 from home.

About the role

As an Audit Manager, you will be responsible for running a portfolio of charity clients, including Independent Examinations and charity accounts. Your other key responsibilities will include:
  • Manage and develop a client portfolio, ensuring the maximising of client advocacy & fee levels from own portfolio, ensuring proactive contact at key times (eg timetable planning).
  • Oversee professional development of audit team members and provide regular feedback to all audit team members.
  • Act as a key point of contact for charity audit and assurance clients, so as to maximise delivered work.
  • Return phone calls and written correspondence to all of the above within required deadline and ensure promises are kept.
  • Ensure all client hygiene factors are in place and monitored.
  • You will assist the partners with running their portfolios.

What we're looking for
  • Experience within at least a small firm, managing audits and accounts preparation.
  • Experience managing and reviewing charity audits.
  • Knowledge of the charity SORP is essential.
  • Experience with their own portfolio of clients with the ability to manage their clients needs.
  • Passion for the not-for-profit sector.
  • Enthusiasm to support fellow managers and the partners with growth and efficiencies in the sector.
  • Collaborative working with teams and colleagues across Kent.

This role requires frequent travel to client offices so candidates must be willing to travel to other offices.
