ABOUT THE PORTFOLIO

The Delinian Group (formerly Euromoney Institutional Investor plc ) has recently been de-listed and taken private, resulting in a decentralisation strategy with the portfolio now organised into x16 distinct assets. Each asset has a clear vision and long-term value creation plan. Three of the assets that are covered by this role are: Derivia Intelligence, II Research and Legal Benchmarking Group.

Derivia Intelligence is a global data and insight provider for the derivatives markets headquartered in London and with offices in New York, Hong Kong, Bulgaria, and India. It is a parent company to the two sub-brands SRP and FOW, both providing specialist sectors with incisive data, news, insights, and events for over 25 years. It is predominantly a subscription-based business model serving a niche area of the financial industry.

II Research produces unique insights and actionable data across 10 different global markets and key capital market players, spanning North America, Latin America, Europe, emerging EMEA and Asia-Pacific. The research data independently captures evaluations of companies, investment professionals and executives from investment managers, banks, research providers and corporate issuers, to deliver detailed peer-to-peer comparative analyses every year.

The Legal Benchmarking Group’s products empower law firms to win new business with rankings and awards accreditation and must-have business intelligence covering their competitors and customers. With a 30-year track record and market-leading brands in corporate, financial, litigation, intellectual property, and tax law, our editorial and research teams interrogate 6,500+ law firm submissions, conduct over 8,000 partner interviews, and review nearly 20,000 client feedback surveys to benchmark firm competence and performance in key global practice areas annually.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This is a permanent opportunity based in London reporting directly to Portfolio CFO leading the commercial finance team covering revenues of ~£45m revenues in FY23. The primary deliverables include:

Leadership

• Implement and track progress of key strategic priorities of each asset from a commercial finance lens. Support both short and long-term initiatives to ensure the business delivers its objectives

• Gain the trust of key stakeholders within the business and be able to positively influence business decisions

• Challenge established thinking and develop and provide an independent perspective

• Strong focus on cash management, driving efficiencies in the lead to cash processes to improve pre-event collection KPIs including DSO

• End-to-end ownership of the P&L and BS for each asset with the support of the R2R finance team in Sofia

• Coach, develop talent and drive high performing Commercial Finance team (x1 Finance Business Partner, x1 FP&A Analyst and x1 Lead Accountant in a collaborative working environment

Management Information

• Ensure Management information is of a level and quality that will pass an external due diligence process and provide high quality MI for a management presentation as part of a sale process

• Full ownership of all management information submitted to the Board on a monthly basis

• Design key financial metrics with the CEOs of the business to help drive performance

• Continuously improve metrics to highlight risks or opportunities within the business

Business Partnering

• Be a trusted Business Partner to the leadership teams and various stakeholders across the organisation and have a voice at the table

• Effective communication of the financial performance of the business through regular townhall updates

• Develop financial models and analyses to support strategic initiatives and help drive financial decisions

• Establish a culture of collaboration within the global financial organisations including the Finance Hub in Sofia

Quarterly Forecast, Annual Budget and medium/long term planning

• Challenge and support the business assumptions provided by the leadership teams

• Lead the Global financial planning and reporting cycles for the portfolio

• Oversee and manage the continuous improvement of budgeting, forecasting and financial planning

• When required, carry-out financial due diligence on any potential M&A activity and provide financial analysis on any potential disposals

SKILLS/

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Education / Qualifications / Work experience

• Qualified Accountant (CIMA, ACCA or ACA) and finance managerial skills

• Has a proven track-record of evolving business models to reflect the changing nature of modern business and customer requirements to drive improved business performance

• Someone who thinks carefully to understand business issues and then who acts decisively and is execution-focused and is committed to delivering on time and at pace

• Experience designing and implementing medium/long term financial planning

• Experience of creating and implementing financial metrics into forecast process

• Strong understanding of Subscriptions and data business models for information services
