Job Purpose:
  • Responsible for controlling and maintaining the day-to-day financial operations and reporting.
  • Supporting the Financial Controller in preparation of financial accounts and implementing financial processes and controls
  • Challenge and drive financial value through analysis and advice

Key

Responsibilities:

  • Coaching and development of 4 staff
  • Leading the activities of the accounts function
  • Preparation & delivery of monthly results
  • Ensuring compliance with HMRC & National Stats
  • Maintain and reconcile ledgers including balance sheets
  • Investigate, report, and resolve discrepancies and queries

Key areas of work:

Cash Management & Treasury
  • Updating and reviewing daily cashflow forecast
  • Reviewing Invoice Finance reconciliation to RBS
  • Reviewing bank reconciliations for all accounts

Controls
  • Closing Ledgers (Accounts Payable & Cashbook) and opening the new period
  • Setting up suppliers and updating bank details
  • Authorising weekly, euro and manual payment runs
  • Developing and documenting business processes
  • Maintain accounting software with accurate records and transactions
  • Checking payroll files

Management Accounting
  • Preparing and processing journals for month
  • Preparation of the management accounts pack including commentary
  • Updating the fixed asset register
  • Balance sheet reconciliations (Invoice Finance Loan, H&D Plan, PAYE, NI, Loan Interest, Staff Loans/Cycle Scheme, Net Wages, Pension, Suspense, Overrider, Complaints, Leases, VAT).

Business Partnering (Marketing, IT, People, Learning & Development, Technical, NFD)
  • Work with budget holders to understand and support their requirements.
  • Sending out monthly budget packs to provide detailed information on spend

Compliance
  • Producing & Submitting VAT Returns
  • Preparing Quarterly Excise duty returns
  • Submitting National Statistics (Monthly Business, Monthly Wages and Salaries, Acquisitions & Disposals, Stock, Annual Business, Purchases, Business Register & Employment, Environmental Protection, UK Manufacturers' Sales by Product, International Trader in Services Surveys).
  • Preparing P11Ds for HMRC & employees
  • Submitting Packaging Waste Data
  • Submitting P46 (Car Forms) to HMRC
  • PAYE Settlement Agreement Submission

Audit
  • Preparing of files and schedules for the annual audits for 3 entities
  • Preparing documentation for the Invoice Finance Audit

Projects
  • Leading or supporting projects within the business
  • Support in the master data governance process including being the master data controller for Finished Goods

Personal Specification:
  • Qualified accountant with at least 3 years PQE (ACA/ACCA/CIMA), or qualified by experience in relevant FMCG environment with 5 years +
