Sitting within WPP HQ, the Specialist Communications and PR team oversee over 35 business owned by WPP within Media, Advertising, Production and PR.

What you'll be doing:

You will be an important member of the team, working alongside one other Finance Manager, and sharing reporting units between the team.

You will report into the Regional Financial Controller.
  • Be the main point of contact for several operating companies within the portfolio.
  • Review results submitted monthly, quarterly (forecasts) and annually (budget) by the operating companies under your control: analysis of P&L and Balance Sheet movements and NWC performance.
  • Track market performance against target metrics and prepare commentary for management review.
  • Review your operating companies’ other reporting and flag any issues to the appropriate Group team: Corporate Responsibility, Client Profitability, Treasury, US tax reporting.
  • Assist your assigned operating companies with accounting, system, or other ad hoc queries.
  • Perform regional control procedures for subsidiaries in line with WPP’s internal controls framework.
  • Advise Group and operating companies on intercompany eliminations and consolidation entries, including goodwill/intangible impairments, transactions, and audit adjustments.
  • Contribute to the preparation of quarterly performance presentations for local Operating Unit management and for the Global Spec Comm management team to present to the WPP leadership.
  • Provide any ad hoc reporting requested which will include presentations, data analysis requests and preparing reports for the Transaction team and Global Leadership on acquisition and divestiture initiatives.
  • Advise management on the setting of bonus metrics and incentives for operating company personnel and highlight any possible contingency requirements.
  • Review key contracts (e.g. share purchase agreements) and advise management on the accounting impact of deferred consideration payouts or possible option rights.
  • Be the main point of contact for any other WPP department for queries relating to your operating companies: Treasury, Tax, Legal, IT, and Property.
  • Work with with WPP’s associate reporting lead and collate the team’s commentary on monthly, quarterly (forecasts) and annual (budget) associate company results.

What you'll need:
  • Relevant Finance qualifications required (ACCA or CIMA)
  • Strong knowledge of financial principals, accounting standards and regulations, and taxation requirements
  • IT system proficiency - including NetSuite
  • Good commercial awareness and foresight
