As our Payroll Specialist you will take the lead on managing the monthly payroll at MATCHES. You will be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll, own the process and help us to continuously improve for our 600 UK based employees and 6 in Honk Kong. You’ll also involved in processing our benefits, working on a small team closely with reward, systems, and people operations. This role is designed for someone with prior payroll and benefits experience with strengths of working in partnership with outsourced payroll provider (we use TMF), the wider people team and ambition to further their knowledge in the field.

Please note that is a 3 month fixed tern contract, with potential to extend.

What you’ll be doing:
  • Collating monthly data for input and processing pay related changes from our people platform (we use hiBob)
  • Proactively checking and challenging the accuracy of information provided before processing
  • Processing of additional hours payments and variable pay data including commission and bonus payments
  • Reconciling the monthly payroll between first and final reports
  • Monitoring and processing absence related pay adjustments in respect of absences and parental leave schemes
  • HMRC correspondence and queries and third-party administration such as reconciliation of pension contributions, voluntary deductions, and benefits reporting
  • Assistance with the day-to-day administration of Company’s global benefits, including UK pension uploads, healthcare enrolment, Cycle to Work, Season Ticket Loan and Childcare Vouchers
  • Support the annual P11D process, reporting all taxable benefits including clothing allowance and healthcare.
  • Reconciling and processing benefit invoices for payment
  • Prepare and submit reports and documentation required for audit purposes
  • Assist with finance reconciliations as required on a monthly basis and prepare schedules for the year end audit

Employee Experience Support
  • Act as the main point of contact for all employee payroll queries, investigating and rectify discrepancies where necessary
  • Support all payroll system users by analysing, tracking and resolving issues, escalating critical issues to management when appropriate
  • Partnering with wider people team to drive improvement and innovation forward

Continuous Process Improvement
  • Track and report any emerging pattern and work with wider team
  • Create and update system training materials (payroll manual procedures) and reference documents for end users

  • Relevant experience managing full-cycle payroll within a fast paced environment
  • Strong analytical skills, being able manipulate data easily and confidently
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to analyse, question & problem solve
  • Tech-savvy with a keen interest for anything people tech & a whizz at excel
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail and numerical
  • Ability to work on multiple projects and be able to prioritise and work to tight deadlines.
  • Self-starter, who isn’t afraid to take ownership of work and deliver an amazing people experience for the people touch points that you own
  • Great people service skills, with an ability to demonstrate sensitivity where required
  • An interest in wider people processes and centres of excellence; willing to get involved and learn outside of your specialism
