Weybourne Group is the holding company for the Dyson technology company, Dyson Farming, and other diverse business interests. Outside the operating businesses, Weybourne manages an investment portfolio and provides financial and other professional support to the Dyson Family, their estates, and personal business interests. The group covers a wide range of sectors including farming, financial and commercial property investments and residential property. We currently have a team of around 75 employees whose roles cover accountancy, financial control, tax and treasury, commercial property and financial investment management, security, audit, IT and HR based in both the UK and Singapore (where the Group Head Office is located).

The Accountant will collaborate with the Finance Manager and the rest of the team to provide comprehensive support for the businesses, charities, and personal finance within the remit of the department.

Requirements

Main Duties/

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare management reporting for business entities in accordance with agreed policies and procedures including commentary, analysis against budgets and forecasts.
  • Maintain robust cash flow forecasts, both personal and business, to enable appropriate planning.
  • Mentoring and day to day supervision of the Assistant Accountant.
  • Prepare statutory financial statements for main business entities and charitable trusts.
  • Post and review monthly accounting entries.
  • Review the integrity of the financial numbers including preparing balance sheet reconciliations and other month end schedules.
  • Prepare and review VAT analysis and returns; assist with analysis for Corporation tax returns for the tax team.
  • Support the preparation of budget information.
  • Provide support on projects when required, such as business process changes and system changes/updates.
  • Identify and promote continuous improvement in processes and reporting.
  • Support the Finance Manager and Head of Family Finance with other ad hoc tasks as required.

Person specification / Core Competencies:
  • Qualified or qualified by experience (QBE).
  • Computer literate, with excellent skills in Excel and experience with accounting systems.
  • Commitment to meeting demanding reporting deadlines.
  • Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • Confident communication skills, with the ability to interact with individuals from a range of backgrounds.
  • Proactive, willing and able to take responsibility and ownership for tasks.
  • Ability to work autonomously when required, whilst still possessing strong teamwork skills.
  • Strong sense of discretion, appreciating the confidentiality of the work.
  • Keen to suggest improvements to current ways of working.
