The Risk Control team provides a central service to the VWFS UK organisation. It forms a key part in developing a positive approach to risk management within the Company's business strategy ensuring consistent standards are adopted

Our primary objectives are:
  • To design and provide a framework which enables effective risk oversight for VWFS UK
  • To ensure that the operational risks and controls which exist within the business are identified, managed, monitored and reported on
  • To provide advice and guidance to the business on all matters relating to operational risk

As the Risk Control Manager you will be the primary interface between Risk Control (2nd Line of Defence) and VWFS UK. You'll report into our Risk Control General Manager

This is what your day might look like:
  • You'll design, establish, embed and maintain a risk aware culture across VWFS UK encompassing key risk disciplines i.e. Operational Risk, Business Continuity and Financial Crime
  • Own the risk training and education programme for VWFS UK ensuring relevant, appropriate and timely risk education material is available to support the ongoing development of employees risk awareness
  • Develop a strategy for aligning and embedding the current disparate risk frameworks in operation by developing and establishing common tools and process which will facilitate the identification, management, monitoring and reporting of risks within the organisation across the key risk disciplines
  • You will build and maintain risk profiles for VWFS UK that measure the business' adherence to a defined risk appetite through the development and use of effective Key Risk Indicators
  • Promote the operating principles of the three lines of defence model throughout the company-wide risk management activities
  • Deliver the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework through; managing ERM policies, standards and procedures, adapting tools and techniques to meet ongoing changes in risk appetite and business needs
  • You'll oversee operation of the ERC (Enterprise Risk Committee), including preparation of committee packs and associated papers
  • Ensure that all risk frameworks are compatible with the ERM framework and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with the wider Risk Management team up to the Board of Management level to achieve the highest level of risk reporting quality through input to the design and being responsible for the production of accurate, appropriate and timely risk reporting for the material risk committees
  • You will oversee the development and implementation of a framework to ensure all Risk compliance procedures are reviewed and compliant with I-OHB requirements, effectively using and integrating and maintaining HQ systems and process requirements and other risk management frameworks to support the business in recognising key risks
  • Work with VWFS UK business areas to cultivate and maintain key relationships to enable the provision of proportionate and appropriate advice and education on risk issues to maintain effective mitigation and control measures
  • You'll take a lead role in delivering assigned audit findings
  • Collaborate with the team of risk professionals to ensure the delivery of the risk strategy by implementing and maintaining fit for purpose Risk Control Frameworks and Risk Reporting structures

This is how you can add value in this role:
  • You have excellent knowledge and practical experience in Risk Controls gained from working for in-house risk management, compliance or an internal audit department
  • You have worked at management level or equivalent and can confidently communicate with all level of colleagues
  • You have experience of providing risk management support to large-scale projects and organisational re-engineering and have technical knowledge of risk management best practice
  • Direct experience of identification, management, monitoring and reporting of risks either in project or business as usual environments
  • You're able to apply knowledge from first principles to advise in complex commercial contexts to drive effective and compliant solutions
  • Collaborative approach to projects and other multi-departmental activities, for shared effective results
  • Use strong numeracy skills in analysing and sizing problems and accurate reporting
  • Engage with and understand the commercial purpose and apply negotiating skills to help business colleagues to understand the compliance context and influence the decision
  • You can provide technical support and coaching to your colleagues
