JOB SUMMARY
Junior Bookkeeper is responsible for undertaking all bookkeeping activities up to Trial Balance including accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations of all balance sheet accounts, and payroll & other journals.

They will be processing end-to-end transaction allocation and accounts management, including helping with the preparation of financial/management reports.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Key role is to perform all the activities of a Bookkeeper.
  • Will work with your Manager, helping train you in technical knowledge and reviewing your work.
  • Ability to work autonomously.
  • Excellent communication skills and confidence.
  • Directed by and reportable to Assistant Client Manager & Senior Bookkeeper.
  • Ability to manage and prioritise workload.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to changes.
  • Knowledgeable and can apply accounting concepts.

TEAMWORK:
  • Will be required to work in a team and be willing and able to delegate work when asked by Manager.

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Perform bank reconciliation.
  • Can prepare sales invoices in the client's accounting system.
  • Enter supplier's tax invoices in the client's accounting system.
  • Process payments of A/P and collections of A/R.
  • Can resolve the recurring reconciling items showing in the reconciliation reports like Bank Reconciliation, Trade Payables/Receivables.
  • Can do payroll data entry processing and able to reconcile with relevant records.
  • Do relevant reconciliations of all balance sheet items.
  • Understanding of the flow of accounting transactions up to the financial statements level.
  • Have a good understanding of the SARS E-filing portal and its use.
  • Can consult with accountants (internal & external).
  • Can liaise directly with the Firm's clients when required.
  • Use of the following software
  • Xero and preferably be a Xero Certified Advisor (Training can be provided)
  • Hubdoc and Dext (Training can be provided)
  • Xero Practice Manager (Training can be provided)
  • Microsoft Products
  • SARS E-filing.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
  • General Accounting Principles.
  • Value Added Taxation (VAT).
  • Treatment of Depreciation.
  • University degree with subjects in Accounting and Taxation.
  • English and Afrikaans (Speak, read, and write).
  • Valid drivers licence with own transport.
