Who Are We?

Not just another building society. Not just another job.

We're the fourth biggest building society in the UK and what makes us a bit different is that we're a mutual organisation. We don't have shareholders; we're owned by our members.

Our colleagues say Skipton's a great place to work, and you could be one of them, bringing with you new ideas on how we can keep customers at the heart of what we do.

Whatever your background, and whatever your goals, we'll help you take the next step towards a better future.

What’s In It For You?

Skipton values work/life balance and we are proud to support hybrid and flexible working, where possible. We have a newly refurbished head office which offers a vibrant and collaborative working space.

We have a range of other benefits available to you including;

• Annual discretionary bonus scheme
• 25 days standard annual leave + bank holidays + rising 1 day per year of service to a maximum of 30 days
• Holiday trading scheme allowing the ability to buy and selladditional annual leave days
• Matching employer pension contribution (up to 10% per annum)
• A commitment to training and development
• Private medical insurance for all our colleagues
• 3 paid volunteering days per annum
• Diverse and inclusive colleague networks available for you to join including our Carers and Pride Alliance groups
• We care about your health and wellbeing - we provide a range of benefits that support this including cycle to work initiative and discounted gym membership

What Will You Be Doing?

To meet strong mortgage growth our wholesale funding requirements are growing, and we are well set to fulfil our ambition of becoming a top 10 UK lender. As Senior Secured Funding Accountant your influence and impact within Group Treasury goes well beyond the job title.

You will play a key transaction management and accounting role in helping us maintain the Society’s secured funding from the €7.5bn Covered Bonds Programme and Darrowby Securitisations.

With total assets in excess of £30 billion and growth outstripping many of our building society peers, your role involves:

• Managing the existing bonds in issuance whilst keeping pace with accounting standards and innovation
• Help develop systems and processes to handle many more funding deals over the next few years
• Ability to keep pace with market developments, bringing ideas and expertise into the business, and turning problems into practical solutions delivery
This is an exciting opportunity for someone with vision, drive, great technical skills and logical thinking capability. You’ll influence direction as part of a highly committed and capable capital markets team and ultimately the Group Treasury function. You will be working closely with our Head of Capital Markets and Group Treasurer.

What Do We Need From You?

We are looking for someone with a recognised Treasury or Accounting qualification with some Secured Funding / Treasury / Capital Markets knowledge and experience. You’ll have a strong accounting practitioner view on the market, close attention to detail, logical thought process and the technical ability (financial forecasting, advanced excel, Treasury management systems) and have a focus for driving efficiencies in order develop your role.

Knowledge of Finance Change programmes is desirable; along with an ability to interpret elements of the legal and transactional documentation supporting Treasury instruments e.g. Covered Bonds or Securitisations. An agile and collaborative working style, with an ability to influence, engage and work in partnership with senior stakeholders, will be key to success in this role.
