Here at National Highways, we have an exciting opportunity for a Project Support Officer to join our Major Projects directorate in our Complex Infrastructure Programme (CIP) division.

The successful candidate will be based in Bedford, however this role will heavily support our new A303 project so regular travel to the Southwest to site offices will be expected, alongside our hybrid working approach of office and home working.

The purpose of this role is to support and enable the delivery of capital investment projects in the Major Projects directorate. The scope of this role encompasses the delivery and coordination of financial and administrative support to a range of internal and external stakeholders to ensure they remain within budget.

What you will be leading on
  • Provide comprehensive project support for financial management activities ensuring accurate monthly reporting by processing invoices and raising purchase orders accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Develop and sustain effective working relationships with key stakeholders in National Highways and the supply chain.
  • Monitor inboxes to ensure they are managed effectively, distributing and raising key issues to the relevant Stakeholders within our Projects.
  • Operate many administrative processes, ensuring that these are delivered accurately on time and in with line with defined procedures and standards.
  • Contribute to the health, safety and wellbeing of colleagues, customers, and other parties by participating in Health and Wellbeing activities throughout the lifecycle of the project.

To be successful you will have:
  • Exceptional organisational skills including managing multiple tasks to deadlines.
  • Experience of answering and dealing with queries.
  • Excellent customer service skills and good written and verbal communications.
  • Strong collaborator, to gain the involvement and engagement of a wide range of stakeholders.
