We are looking for an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Junior Accountant to support our accounting and financial operations. Junior Accountant plays a vital role in supporting the day-to-day accounting operations and assisting in maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial reports.
Your Role:
- Data Entry and Record Keeping:
- Input accounting/financial transactions into the accounting software or spreadsheets.
- Maintain organized and up-to-date accounting/financial records and documentation.
- File and archive financial documents for easy retrieval.
- Accounts Payable and Receivable:
- Assist in processing invoices and receipts.
- Prepare and issue payments to vendors or suppliers.
- Reconcile accounts payable and receivable statements.
- Bank Reconciliation:
- Reconcile bank statements with internal records to identify discrepancies.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies promptly.
- General Ledger Maintenance:
- Assist in maintaining the general ledger by posting journal entries.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of ledger entries.
- Payroll Processing:
- Experience with payroll processing
- Experience with payroll tax calculations and reporting
- Tax Compliance:
- Experience with calculating monthly GST tax
- An understanding of the GST tax rules to determine tax ability and how to complete returns
- Financial Reporting:
- Assist in preparing financial reports, including income statements and balance sheets.
- Help compile financial data for budgeting and forecasting purposes.
- Support to Senior Accountants:
- Collaborate with senior accountants and financial managers on special projects.
- Provide assistance in researching accounting issues and problem-solving.
Skills & Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
- CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or equivalent certification is preferred.
- Proven experience as an Accountant, with at least 2 years of experience.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Experience in payroll processing and tax compliance is essential.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- High level of integrity and commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
- Familiarity with relevant laws and regulations related to accounting and payroll.
