Head of Finance Transformation role (Bristol)

  • 9-month interim role (starting as soon as possible)
  • Option to work on a fixed-term contract or via daily rate/ paid weekly.
  • Salary ranges from £55,000-£65,000 on a contract or a daily rate paid weekly via agency can be discussed/ agreed (inside IR35).
  • Bristol-based charity role- but lots of flexibility on working from home.
  • You will lead and manage the Finance Business Support Centre, ensuring the team provides high quality support to the business.
  • You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and delivering KPI's for the Business support centre and providing regular monitoring and reporting against them.
  • You will be responsible for ensuring that system controls are sufficiently robust to maintain a high level of data integrity and ensuring a consistent application of finance processes are always applied, whilst providing an efficient and effective service to the organisation.

Essential experience required for this role:

  • Relevant experience of managing a transactional finance team and providing a service to internal customers.
  • Evidence of effectively liaising with external stakeholders such as auditors and bankers.
  • Experience of designing and implementing effective processes, systems, and controls.
  • Evidence of managing cash, investment, and banking operations.
  • A track record of success of working effectively and collaboratively to deliver expected outcomes in a fast-paced, pressured environment.
  • Experience of managing budgets.

Principal accountabilities:

  • Responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the organisation's accounting records and financial systems and that the control framework is understood and followed, identifying and implementing improvements where required.
  • Responsible for ensuring that there is a consistent application of policies and processes across the team and the wider organisation.
  • Responsible for regularly reviewing the departments' processes, improving on existing processes and procedures, driving continuous improvement.
    Lead and effectively manage the following teams, reviewing and monitoring development plans and performance to ensure delivery of professional excellence and expertise:
  • Banking, Accounts Payable, Billing and Credit Control.
  • Payroll team (functions to be transferred to Finance).
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders within the Finance Department and key business managers.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with third parties, suppliers and customers e.g. specialist advisors, bankers, card providers, purchasers.
  • Be the key client lead for system providers and work alongside IT colleagues in ensuring KPI's which reflect the needs of the business are set, regularly meeting with the key suppliers to ensure they are meeting the agreed KPI's.
  • Lead on the development and management of robust business continuity processes to ensure resilience around service provision and system dependency.
  • Lead on designing and implementing KPI's for the department to ensure the quality of the service provided to the organisation. You will work collaboratively alongside internal stakeholders to agree the KPI's and continuously track and monitor these, regularly reporting these to the Director of Finance. Work collaboratively with other senior Finance colleagues to ensure effective communication and high-quality customer service across all Finance functions.
  • Responsible for providing intelligent data and support to the Director of Finance, other senior Finance colleagues and the business.
  • Support the Director of Finance and Financial Accounting team with the monitoring, management and improvement of the financial control framework.
  • Provide support and analysis to Finance colleagues and auditors to enable the production and audit of the Statutory Accounts.
  • Maximise investment income through placing funds appropriately in line with cashflow requirements.
  • Lead on projects as required, contributing to the finance strategy, business planning and budgeting to agreed timescales.

Education & Certification:
CCAB qualified or equivalent, with sufficient PQE to provide evidence of necessary skills, knowledge and experience.
