Job Details
We need you to join our Financial Services team and would welcome your application as either a fully qualified and experienced or part qualified Account.
You will provide support and assistance to the Group Accountant in providing full financial services including the preparation of final accounts and production of the Statement of Accounts for the Council as well as financial support and assistance to the Council’s wholly owned local authority companies.
At the fully qualified level you will take a lead role in the closure of accounts and production of financial statements for the Council and the Council’s wholly owned local authority companies and will be actively involved in supporting the external audit process for these. You will also lead in the co-ordination and preparation of monitoring and financial reports.
You will have a working knowledge of CIPFA’s Code of Practice and other relevant accounting regulations. You will also have experience of preparation and submission of statutory financial returns in relation to company accounts, including filing with Companies House.
With excellent communication skills, you will be able to provide financial advice at all levels including the ability to produce reports for Senior Managers and Elected Members/Board Members. You will also have experience of management staff.
For the full Account level, you must have the relevant CCAB accounting qualification with significant proven post qualification experience in public sector finance, ideally local government. Alternatively, if you are part qualified and actively studying to complete your qualification, or if you have less that 3 years public sector finance experience, we can support you thorough your studies and provide you with the experience to progress into the full Accountant role.
If you would like to join our team, we would like to hear from you. In return we can offer you a competitive salary, performance related pay, a generous annual leave entitlement which includes an office closure between Christmas and New Year, membership of the local government pension scheme and flexible working opportunities.
