Our Education client is looking to recruit a Head of Financial Performance for an interim contract, reporting into the Deputy Finance Director. This will be a hybrid role 2 days a week in the office in Brighton.
Your new role
You will manage a team of management accountants having responsibility for the setting of budgets, tracking of actual performance against budgets, supporting and challenging budget managers, producing management and other reporting, and ensuring costs are controlled effectively. Plan and lead on the operational processes of the annual budget cycle, including all aspects that make up the production of 5 year resource plans, e.g. forecasting of income, calculation of cost bases and allocations, the finalisation of Budget Centre Plans for all schools and departments and the overall operating statement. Ensure that the team provides a high level of support, advice and challenge to budget managers and other senior management, both during the budget setting and throughout the year, to assist them in coming in line with budget or in achieving any adjustments made to the budget during the year. This should include regular meetings with budget managers.
What you'll need to succeed
You will be a Qualified ACCA, ACA or CIMA Accountant with experience of working within HE, Education or charity sector. You will have managed a team of management accountants with extensive experience of preparing budgets and forecasts, and reporting/tracking actual performance against budget.
