Your new company
Hays are delighted to be supporting a rapidly growing business who are regarded as world-leaders in their industry, as they look to recruit an ambitious Financial Accountant to join them in their next phase of growth. The business has seen significant investment and business growth over the last few years and seen its turnover increase to £60M.
Your new role
In this Financial Accountant / Financial Planning & Analyst (FP&A) job you will play a pivotal role in the wider finance team, in undertaking extensive reconciliation of various income streams, calculating complex monthly accruals and being aware of financial contractual agreements that will involve accurate analysis of large volumes of data. Therefore, you have to be confident with Excel (pivot tables, sum if, V-LOOK-UPS etc.) to analyse the financial posting, invoices, payments across all UK and European sales. Due to their business model, you need to make provisions for advanced payments, ensuring the balance sheet is updated and identify any discrepancies which may be treated as early financial risk. You will work closely with specialist teams regarding contract agreements, specific deadlines and projects which will require presentation of monthly and quarterly performance reports including income across the business.
Regarding financial planning and forecasting (FP&A) you will assist in the production of the annual budgeting and use your financial modelling skills to make provisions for various revenue streams of income and commission payment commitments. This will require attending regular stakeholder meetings with the specialist teams across the Group to monitor their financial performance, identity areas of concern, lapsed payments and future financial commitments. This will enable you to produce a rolling forecast for P&L, Balance Sheet and cash flow reporting to the Senior Management Team as well as their Parent Head Office.
As part of the finance team, you will be a key point of contact for various divisions and operational teams in producing detailed financial analysis reports enabling them to make commercial decisions which can only be archived by you building strong and supporting relationships with your colleagues.
What you'll need to succeed
You will have proven experience working in a fast-paced business-to-business sector, preferably a FMCG, a manufacturing or distribution business that may have many product lines, as this business has a high volume of transactional sales, which requires your financial accounting and reporting skills to support the business. The key duties will require extensive balance sheet reconciliation and using your analytical skills to track performance as well as investigate queries and identify financial risks. We expected you to be an intermediate / advanced user of Excel and able to use pivot tables, sumif, V-LOOK-UPS tec to analyse large volumes of complex financial data. Any experience of accounts consolidation would be a benefit, and we assume you will be AAT Qualified or studying ACCA, ACA or CIMA but we will consider qualified by experience accountants if you can demonstrate the core skills required.
Any experience of royalties and/or working in publishing would be of significant interest.
In person, you will be a high achiever who has excellent communication and relationship-building skills, as well as be able to use your initiative to investigate and resolve queries. Due to the volume of business activity and the attention to detail required, you will be comfortable asking questions and query the financial data which is presented as the business works in a fast-paced business and consumer sector.
What you'll get in return
The business offers a flexible benefits package with a salary of £35,000 37.5-hour working week with 3 days in the office and 2 working from home, 25 days holiday plus the Bank Holidays, pension and a study package (depending on experience).
