Te Whatu Ora - Mid Central is seeking an experienced Payroll Officer to join their team for a minimum of 9 months with the potential for longer. In this role you will have the opportunity to play a crucial role in the health system transition at a local level.
Previous experience in a high-volume payroll position is highly desirable but not essential. An understanding of relevant employment legislation and both individual and collective agreements is also highly desirable. Key Responsibilities include:
Accurately and efficiently process a high volume of payroll transactions
Record payroll entries in compliance with policies and procedures
Collaborate with the team and other departments to address payroll inquiries and resolve payroll related issues
Maintain up to date and accurate records of payroll transactions
To excel in this role, you must have exceptional attention to detail, strong organisational skills, and the ability to handle high workloads effectively. Your payroll expertise will be crucial in ensuring accurate and timely processing. You will also need:
Proficiency in payroll systems and software
Understanding of employment agreements and employment legislation
Knowledge of payroll process, including deductions, taxes and compliance
Ability to proactively identify and resolve payroll discrepancies
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders.
Strong problem solving skills and the ability to work independently
